  • Engine Application: Built for the Chevrolet Big Block (BBC) family, covering the full range of common displacements including 396, 402, 427, 454 and 502 ci engines. Suits Mark IV BBC heads with the standard BBC bolt pattern, found in classic Chevelles, Camaros, Corvettes, Impalas, El Caminos, GMC trucks and BBC swaps into hot rods, drag cars, marine builds and tow rigs.

  • Why BBC Covers Are Not Interchangeable with SBC: Big Block Chev cylinder heads are physically larger than Small Block heads, with a different valve cover bolt pattern and footprint. SBC and BBC valve covers do not interchange, so always confirm the engine is a Big Block before ordering. The easiest visual check is the cover length and width, as BBC covers are noticeably bigger to suit the larger BBC head.

  • Why Tall Covers Are Almost Mandatory on BBC: Big Blocks run larger valves, longer pushrods and beefier valvetrain components than Small Blocks, which means clearance issues with stock-height covers are even more common. A high-lift camshaft, roller rockers, shaft mount rockers and stud girdles all benefit from the extra internal height. For most BBC street and performance builds, tall covers are the safe default rather than the upgrade choice.

  • Triple Chrome Plated Steel: Made from steel rather than aluminium, then triple chrome plated for a deep, high shine finish. Steel covers carry the traditional Big Block muscle car aesthetic, and chrome is the period-correct choice for classic Chevelle SS, Camaro SS396, Corvette and Impala restorations and resto-mods. Triple plating gives a more durable finish than basic chrome, which helps under the higher engine bay heat that BBC builds tend to produce.

  • No Logo Design: A clean, unbranded surface gives flexibility for builders who want a tidy presentation without manufacturer branding. Suits factory-style restorations, builds running aftermarket badges or decals, or anyone wanting the chrome to do the talking. Also a strong choice for engine builders supplying customer engines who prefer to keep covers neutral.

  • Internal Baffles, Push-In Breathers and Pair Packaging: Includes internal baffles to reduce oil mist carryover, which matters on BBC engines that tend to produce more crankcase pressure than smaller engines under load. Designed for push-in breather caps and grommets, so a separate breather cap and matching grommet will be needed to complete the install. Sold as a pair, ready for both banks. Pair with chrome breather caps, chrome PCV valves and chrome accessories for a consistent classic BBC look. Use a soft cloth and chrome-safe cleaner to maintain the finish, as harsh chemicals and abrasive polishes will mark or dull the plating over time.
