Engine Application: Built for Holden 253 and 308 V8 carby motors across the Red, Blue and Black variants. Suits HT, HG, HQ, HJ, HX, HZ, WB, LH/LX Torana, VB through VL Commodore and other Australian V8 builds where a clean blacked-out engine bay look is the goal rather than chrome or polished.

Tall vs Low Profile: These are tall covers at 95mm overall, designed to clear a high-lift camshaft, roller rockers, shaft mount rockers or a stud girdle. If you are running a stock or mildly modified valvetrain only, the low OEM-style cover is a better match. The tall profile earns its place on performance builds where the standard cover would foul rocker tips.

Power Booster Clearance Warning: At 95mm tall, these covers can come close to the brake power booster on certain Holden chassis, particularly tighter engine bays. Worth measuring clearance between the existing covers and the booster before ordering, especially on Toranas and earlier Holdens where the booster sits lower in the engine bay than later Commodores.

Black EDP Finish: EDP (electrophoretic deposition) is an industry-standard coating process where paint is electrostatically applied to the metal in a dipping bath, producing an even, fully covered finish across every surface including underneath the cover and inside the bolt holes. The result is a corrosion-resistant black finish that is more consistent than spray paint and harder wearing than basic powder coat in tight or recessed areas.

This reduces oil consumption and the engine bay oil mess that comes with un-baffled covers. Particularly important on a daily-driven or workhorse Holden V8.

What You Need Separately: Push-in breather caps, grommets, valve cover gaskets and the retaining bolts are sourced separately. AAA lists a separate breather cap and grommet listing, which is the easiest way to keep ventilation set up correctly. A fresh set of Holden V8 rocker cover gaskets is essential, as old gaskets rarely seal once disturbed.
- Practical Buyer Tip: EDP-finished steel covers benefit from gentle cleaning to keep the finish looking sharp. Use a soft microfibre cloth and mild engine bay cleaner, and avoid harsh degreasers, abrasive pads or wire brushes that can scratch through the coating and expose bare steel underneath. Any chips or scratches are worth touching up promptly with a high-temp black engine paint to keep rust from creeping in around the damage.
