  • Precision manufactured in steel
  • Chrome plated
  • Holden 253 308
  • These are low profile OEM style covers with front baffled breather holes
  • Engine Application: Built for the Holden 253 and 308 V8 motors, covering HQ, HJ, HX, HZ, WB, LH/LX/UC Torana, VB through VL Commodore, VK Group A and other Australian V8 builds. Suits restorations, resto-mods, hot rod Holdens and street machine builds where a clean OEM-style chrome look is wanted rather than a tall finned aftermarket cover.

  • Low OEM Profile: These are low profile covers, matching the height of the factory Holden V8 rocker covers. The low profile suits stock or mildly modified valvetrain only. If you are running stud girdles, full roller rockers, taller valve springs or a hydraulic roller cam, the low profile will likely foul and you will need a tall rocker cover instead. Confirm valvetrain clearance before ordering.

  • Pair Includes Two Different Covers: The pair is correct as supplied but the two covers are not identical. One cover has a twist-style top filler hole plus a baffled breather port on the end, the other cover has an end breather hole only with no top filler. This matches the factory Holden V8 setup where the oil filler sits on one cover and the breather ventilation works through the other. This is not a packing mistake.

  • Front Baffled Breather Holes: The breather holes are baffled, which means there is an internal screen that stops oil splash from the rocker arms being pulled out through the breather. This reduces oil consumption and the engine bay oil mess that comes with non-baffled covers, particularly important on a daily driver or workhorse build.

  • Triple Chrome Plated Construction: Pressed steel base with chrome plating gives a bright reflective finish that lifts a tired engine bay without changing the valvetrain or breather setup. The low OEM profile keeps the look factory-correct, which suits restorations where aftermarket-looking tall finned covers would feel out of place.

  • Gaskets Sold Separately: Holden V8 rocker cover gaskets are not included. Fresh gaskets are essential when fitting new covers, as old gaskets rarely seal properly once disturbed and will leak oil down the side of the head. A set of cork or rubber Holden V8 rocker cover gaskets is cheap insurance against post-install leaks.

  • What to Pair With It: A matching chrome air cleaner, chrome breather cap (for the top filler twist hole), chrome accessory brackets and a fresh set of Holden V8 rocker cover gaskets round out the install. If you also need a PCV grommet for the end breather port, source one that suits the Holden V8 baffled breather setup.

  • Practical Buyer Tip: Clean the head face thoroughly before fitting fresh gaskets, as old gasket residue is the most common cause of leaks after a rocker cover swap. Torque the bolts evenly to manufacturer spec rather than overtightening, as too much torque can distort pressed steel covers and create leaks rather than seal them. Chrome benefits from a gentle wipe-down with a soft microfibre cloth and avoiding abrasive polishes or harsh degreasers that can dull or scratch the plating over time.

Note: both covers are not the same, one has the twist style top filler hole and a baffled breather port in the end. The other cover only has an end breather hole, no top filler hole.
