  • Suits GM LS1 & LS6
  • Black finned aluminium
  • 10 bolt pattern (not 11 as per LS2, LS3, LS7)
  • Engine Application: Designed specifically for Gen.3 LS engines with the 10-bolt valley pattern, which covers GM LS1 and LS6. These earlier LS engines are commonly found in Australian-made Holden VT, VX, VY, VZ Commodores, HSV variants, Monaros and US-market Camaros and Corvettes from the late 90s to mid 2000s. Will not fit Gen.4 engines like LS2, LS3 or LS7, which use an 11-bolt pattern.

  • Why the Bolt Pattern Matters: Gen.3 LS engines (LS1, LS6) and Gen.4 LS engines (LS2, LS3, LS7) look almost identical from the outside, but the valley cover bolt patterns are different. The Gen.3 layout uses 10 bolts and includes a rear-mounted oil pressure sensor, while Gen.4 moved to 11 bolts with the sensor relocated to the valley itself. Mixing up the two is a common ordering mistake, so always confirm the engine year and model before purchase.

  • Why Fit a Decorative Valley Cover: The factory plastic intake on LS1 and LS6 engines sits over the valley completely, but once swapped for a single-plane intake, carburettor conversion, or aftermarket performance manifold, the factory valley plate is left visible across the centre of the engine. A black finned cover fits over the top of the factory valley plate, giving the engine a clean, finished centre after the intake swap.

  • Black Finned Aesthetic: The fins give a nod to traditional small block and big block valley covers from the muscle car era, while the black finish keeps the look modern and stealthy. A strong fit for blacked-out engine bays, modern resto-mod LS swaps into older Holdens or Fords, and street builds where polished or chrome would feel out of place. Pairs well with black valve covers, black accessory brackets and wrinkle-finish intakes for a consistent dark theme.

  • Common Build Context: This cover is most often fitted during LS1 or LS6 carburettor conversions or single-plane intake swaps where the factory plastic intake is removed. A popular pairing on VT-VZ Commodore and Monaro engines being pulled out of factory trim and rebuilt for street, strip or show use.

  • Practical Buyer Tip: Confirm the engine is a Gen.3 LS1 or LS6 with the 10-bolt valley pattern before ordering. The easiest way to check is to look at the rear of the engine for the factory oil pressure sensor location, which sits at the back of the valley on Gen.3 engines but on the cover itself on Gen.4. Reuse the factory valley bolts if they are in good condition, as the kit details should be confirmed at checkout. The black finish is more forgiving of fingerprints and oil mist than polished, but avoid harsh degreasers as they can dull the surface over time.

Note: this valley cover only suits the above mentioned engines; LS2, LS3 & LS6 have an 11 bolt mounting pattern.
