  • Engine Application: Built for Chevrolet Small Block engines with conventional perimeter bolt heads. Suits the full SBC family including 283, 305, 327, 350, 383 stroker and 400 cubic inch engines. Suits classic Chevs, Camaros, Novas, Corvettes, El Caminos, hot rods and SBC swaps where a clean fabricated polished look is the goal rather than the period-correct finned cast aluminium.

  • Perimeter Bolt vs Centrebolt is Critical: SBC Bolt Pattern Fitment: SBC heads come in three valve cover bolt styles, and they are not interchangeable. The earliest staggered perimeter bolt heads (1955 to 1959) use an offset bolt pattern around the edge. Regular perimeter bolt heads (1959 to 1986) use the well-known evenly-spaced perimeter pattern. Centre bolt heads (1987-on) use bolts running down the middle of the cover, common on Vortec and late TBI motors. These covers fit regular perimeter bolt heads only. The easiest visual check is whether the existing covers bolt evenly around the edges, in an offset edge pattern, or down the centre.

  • What "Long Bolt Style" Means Here: Unlike BBC where long bolt refers to a specific head bolt pattern, on these SBC fabricated covers "long bolt" refers to the cover design itself. The bolts are extended length to pass through tall mounting bosses welded onto the top of the cover, giving a cleaner profile and easier access for socket tools during install. Same perimeter bolt pattern on the head side, just longer reach.

  • Fabricated vs Cast Construction: Fabricated covers are welded from sheet aluminium, giving a smooth flat top with visible welded seams instead of the finned cast look. Lighter than cast aluminium and the modern aesthetic suits Pro-Touring, Pro-Street and resto-mod SBC builds rather than period-correct restorations where finned cast covers feel more appropriate.

  • 90mm Tall Profile: At 90mm overall, the tall design clears a high-lift camshaft, roller rockers, shaft mount rockers and stud girdles commonly used in performance SBC builds. Standard height covers often foul on aftermarket roller valvetrain, which is where this profile earns its place. Worth measuring your tallest valvetrain component before committing if you are running an extreme high-lift camshaft setup.

  • Polished Fabricated Aesthetic: Hand polished aluminium gives a bright reflective finish that picks up engine bay lighting and complements chrome accessory trim. The polish runs across the flat top and side panels, with the welded seams visible for the fabricated look. Pairs well with a polished air cleaner, polished accessory brackets and other polished or chrome trim.

  • Welded-In Baffles and Pre-Cut Breather Holes: Welded-in baffles control oil splash off the rocker arms and stop oil being pulled into the PCV system, which causes the smoking and oil consumption common with un-baffled covers. Breather holes are pre-cut, ready for push-in breathers or PCV grommets without needing to drill or modify the covers.

  • Practical Buyer Tip: Comes with the retaining bolts. SBC perimeter bolt valve cover gaskets, push-in breathers, grommets and PCV valves are sourced separately, so plan to add these to the order. Polished aluminium benefits from occasional attention with a quality aluminium polish like Autosol or Mothers Mag and Aluminium to keep it bright, particularly in coastal conditions where oxidation can dull the finish over time. Avoid harsh degreasers and abrasive pads that can scratch the polish layer.
