  • Engine Application: Built for the Small Block Ford Windsor family covering 289, 302 and 351W cubic inch motors. Suits classic Mustangs, Falcons, Fairlanes, Cobras, Broncos, F-trucks and Australian Falcon Windsor builds, as well as 351W swaps into hot rods and customs where a unique ball-milled look is wanted rather than the more common finned or fabricated styles.

  • Windsor vs Cleveland is Critical: Ford 302 Windsor and 302C / 351C Cleveland are completely different engine families with different cylinder heads and different valve covers. They are not interchangeable. Windsor covers are narrower with bolts closer in, while Cleveland covers are wider with bolts further out and a more rectangular footprint. Confirm you have Windsor heads (not Cleveland) before ordering. The 351W and 351C are the most common mix-up at this displacement.

  • Ball Milled Design: The top of each cover is machined with a series of round dimples (ball milled pattern), giving a distinctive textured appearance that catches engine bay lighting differently from a smooth or finned top. The ball-milled look is closer to a custom show finish than the period-correct finned design, suiting Pro-Touring, custom and street rod Windsor builds where the cover is meant to be a focal point.

  • Tall Profile Clearance: The tall design allows for fitment of a high-lift camshaft, roller rockers, shaft mount rockers and stud girdles commonly used in performance Windsor builds. Standard height covers often foul on aftermarket roller valvetrain, which is where this profile earns its place. Worth measuring your tallest valvetrain component before committing if you are running an extreme high-lift camshaft setup.

  • Cast Aluminium Construction: The cast aluminium body is thicker and more rigid than pressed steel covers, which helps dampen valvetrain noise and resists distortion around the bolt holes when torqued properly. The mass of the casting also gives a more substantial feel and look than thinner stamped covers, and gives the ball-milled top its visual depth.

  • Polished Aesthetic and Build Fit: Polished aluminium with the ball-milled top suits chrome-themed engine bays, classic Mustang and Falcon restorations, hot rod Windsor builds and show cars where a distinctive dress-up package ties the engine bay together. Pairs naturally with a polished air cleaner, chrome alternator brackets, polished breather caps and matching polished accessory trim.

  • Breather Holes and PCV Baffling: Pre-cut breather holes are ready for push-in breathers or PCV grommets, and the covers are baffled for PCV operation. The baffling controls oil splash off the rocker arms and stops oil being pulled into the PCV system, reducing oil consumption and engine bay oil mess.

  • Practical Buyer Tip: Hardware is not specified as included on the page, so plan to source Windsor-specific valve cover gaskets, push-in breathers, grommets, a PCV valve and retaining bolts separately. Windsor and Cleveland gaskets are not interchangeable. Polished aluminium with a ball-milled top benefits from occasional attention with a quality aluminium polish like Autosol to keep the recessed dimples bright, particularly in coastal or humid conditions where oxidation can dull the polished surface over time. Avoid harsh degreasers and abrasive pads that can scratch the polish layer.
