  • Holden rocker cover
  • Precision manufactured in steel
  • Black EPD finish
  • Suits Holden 161, 179, 186, 202 engines

  • Engine Application: Built for the Holden Red, Blue and Black inline 6 cylinder family, which share the same head family across 149, 161, 173, 179, 186 and 202 cubic inch displacements. Suits EH, HD, HR, HK, HT, HG, HQ, HJ, HX, HZ, WB, LC/LJ Torana, LH/LX/UC Torana and VB through VL Commodore restoration and resto-mod builds where a clean blacked-out engine bay theme is the goal.

  • Rocker Cover vs Side Plates: This is the top rocker cover that sits over the valvetrain along the top of the head, not the block-side plate covers. The Holden 6 uses both as separate items. If your dress-up extends to the side plates too, those are separate listings.

  • Plain No-Logo Aesthetic: The completely smooth, no-badge top is the most understated of the Holden 6 rocker cover variants. Suits sleeper builds, work utes, period-correct restorations and engine bays where the focus is on the rest of the build rather than the cover itself. Also a strong pick for 161, 179 or 186 builds where a 202 displacement badge would be inaccurate or unwanted.

  • Black EDP Finish: EDP (electrophoretic deposition) is an industry-standard coating process where paint is electrostatically applied to the metal in a dipping bath, producing an even, fully covered finish across every surface including underneath the cover and inside the bolt holes. The result is a corrosion-resistant black finish that is more consistent than spray paint and harder wearing than basic powder coat in tight or recessed areas. The smooth flat top is particularly clean on this variant since there are no raised logos or grooves to catch the eye.

  • Pairs Well With Black Dress-Up: Works particularly well in engine bays themed with black accessory brackets, wrinkle-finish or black intake manifolds, black push-in breather caps and black or matte air cleaners. Also a strong choice as a starting point for a colour-themed build where the cover gets painted or wrapped over the EDP base.

  • Gaskets and Breather Setup Sold Separately: Rocker cover gasket, push-in breather and any grommets are not included and need to be sourced separately. Fresh gaskets are essential when swapping covers, as old gaskets rarely seal properly once disturbed and will leak oil down the side of the head.

  • Practical Buyer Tip: Clean the head face thoroughly before fitting a fresh gasket, as old gasket residue is the most common cause of post-install leaks. Torque the bolts evenly to spec rather than overtightening, as too much torque on pressed steel covers can distort the flange and create leaks rather than prevent them. EDP-finished steel benefits from gentle cleaning with a soft microfibre cloth and mild engine bay cleaner, avoiding harsh degreasers and abrasive pads. Touch up any chips promptly with high-temp black engine paint.
