Black Steel Holden 6 Cylinder 161 179 186 202 Rocker Cover, With 202 Logo
- Precision manufactured in steel
- Black EPD finish
- Holden 202 rocker cover features 202 logo but also suits Holden 161, 179, 186 engines
-
Engine Application: Built for the Holden Red, Blue and Black inline 6 cylinder family, which share the same head family across 149, 161, 173, 179, 186 and 202 cubic inch displacements. The 202 logo is a styling choice rather than a fitment restriction, so the cover suits 149, 161, 173, 179 and 186 builds equally well. Fits EH, HD, HR, HK, HT, HG, HQ, HJ, HX, HZ, WB, LC/LJ Torana, LH/LX/UC Torana and VB through VL Commodore..
-
Rocker Cover vs Side Plates: This is the top rocker cover that sits over the valvetrain along the top of the head, not the block-side plate covers. The Holden 6 uses both as separate items. If your dress-up includes the side plates too, the matching black side plate variants are separate listings.
-
Raised 202 Logo and Finned Grooves: The prominent 202 logo sits in the centre of the cover with raised grooves running along the top, giving a finned look without being a fully finned aftermarket cover. The black finish keeps the logo subtle rather than the chrome version where it stands out brightly. Suits builds where some period-correct visual interest is wanted but the rest of the engine bay is themed darker rather than bright.
-
Black EDP Finish: EDP (electrophoretic deposition) is an industry-standard coating process where paint is electrostatically applied to the metal in a dipping bath, producing an even, fully covered finish across every surface including down into the raised logo recesses. The result is a corrosion-resistant black finish that is more consistent than spray paint and harder wearing than basic powder coat in tight or recessed areas.
-
Black Aesthetic Use Case: Strong fit for sleeper builds, work utes, blacked-out resto-mods and modern street machine Holden 6 builds where chrome or polished would feel out of place. Pairs well with black or wrinkle-finish side plates, black push-in breather caps, a black air cleaner and matte or wrinkle accessory brackets. Also a strong choice for engine bays where the focus is on the rest of the build rather than the rocker cover itself.
-
Gaskets Sold Separately: Rocker cover gasket is not included and needs to be sourced separately. Fresh gaskets are essential when swapping covers, as old gaskets rarely seal properly once disturbed and will leak oil down the side of the head.
- Practical Buyer Tip: For 161, 179 or 186 builds where the 202 logo feels wrong, the same black rocker cover is available in a no-logo version. Functionally identical, just without the centre badge. EDP-finished steel benefits from gentle cleaning with a soft microfibre cloth and mild engine bay cleaner. Avoid harsh degreasers, abrasive pads or wire brushes that can scratch through the coating and expose bare steel underneath, and touch up any chips promptly with high-temp black engine paint to keep rust from creeping in.
