• Application: The 5" (127mm) straight joiner is used to connect two sections of 127mm pipework in a single inline run. At this diameter it suits big bore cold air intake systems, large turbo intercooler piping and high-flow induction setups on serious performance builds where 5" piping is required to feed the engine's airflow demand.

• Confirmed Specs: 5mm wall thickness with 4-ply reinforcement. Rated 43 to 130 PSI working pressure with a 275 PSI burst rating. Temperature range of -60°C to 260°C. UV, water and ozone resistant. These specs are well above what most petrol turbo builds will see in service, giving solid safety margin under sustained boost.

• Joiner vs Elbow: A joiner is a short straight coupler, not a length of hose. It is used to bridge two pipe ends that are already aligned, or to allow disassembly of a pipework section without cutting. If you need to make a directional change in your piping, an elbow is the correct part instead.

• Why 5" Joiner Length: At 76mm long, this joiner gives enough overlap on each pipe end (around 38mm per side) for two clamps to be fitted with proper sealing surface. Shorter couplers can compromise clamp positioning at this diameter.

• What to Pair With It: Clamps suited to around 137mm O.D. are required, as the outside diameter of 127mm I.D. silicone hose is roughly 10mm larger than the inside diameter. T-bolt clamps are essential at this size. Worm drive clamps do not apply enough even pressure on 5" silicone under boost and are likely to leak. T-bolts give the consistent clamping force required for big bore boosted plumbing.

• Practical Buyer Tip: Confirm both pipe ends are true 127mm O.D. before ordering. 5" piping from different manufacturers can vary slightly, and at this diameter even a 2mm difference can compromise the seal. If your pipework varies, a reducing joiner or step-up coupler is the better choice.
