  • Application: The 89mm to 76mm straight reducer steps pipework down from 3½" to 3" in a single in-line piece without any directional change. Common uses include stepping from a 3½" intercooler outlet down to a 3" throttle body inlet, transitioning between mismatched pipe sections on a custom intake, or adapting an 89mm turbo outlet to 76mm charge piping where the routing is already aligned.

  • Why Straight Over Reducing Elbow: A straight reducer is the right choice when your pipework is already aligned and only the diameter needs to change. It is shorter than a reducing elbow and gives a cleaner install when no bend is required, which matters in tight engine bay routing where every millimetre counts.

  • Why This Size Step Matters: 3½" to 3" is one of the most common size transitions on turbo LS swaps and modified V6 builds. 89mm piping is often used on the cold side of the intercooler to keep airflow volume up, then stepped down to 76mm at the throttle body to match factory inlet sizing.

  • Construction: Multi-ply silicone with internal reinforcement holds shape stability through the taper section, which is the high-stress part of any reducing hose. The blue exterior with white Takashi logo suits visible engine bay builds where colour-matched silicone is part of the finish.

  • What to Pair With It: You will need a clamp suited to around 99mm O.D. for the 3½" end and around 86mm O.D. for the 3" end, as the outside diameter of Takashi silicone hose is roughly 10mm larger than the inside diameter. T-bolt clamps give consistent clamping pressure across the taper section, which worm drive clamps often struggle to seal evenly under boost cycling.

  • Practical Buyer Tip: Install with the larger 89mm end facing the airflow source (turbo outlet, intercooler outlet, or MAF housing) and the smaller 76mm end facing downstream toward the throttle body. Reversing the direction is possible but creates a slight flow disturbance at the step-down on the boosted side.
