  • Application: The 101mm to 76mm straight reducer steps pipework down from 4" to 3" in a single in-line piece without any directional change. Common uses include stepping from a 4" intercooler outlet down to a 3" throttle body inlet, transitioning between different sections of mismatched piping, or adapting a 4" turbo outlet to 3" charge piping where space does not allow a reducing elbow.

  • Why Straight Over Reducing Elbow: A straight reducer is the right choice when your pipework is already aligned and only the diameter needs to change. It is shorter than a reducing elbow and gives a cleaner install when no bend is required, which matters in tight engine bay routing where every millimetre counts.

  • Confirmed Specs: 5mm wall thickness with 4-ply reinforcement. Rated 43 to 130 PSI working pressure with a 275 PSI burst rating. Temperature range of -60°C to 260°C. UV, water and ozone resistant. These ratings give solid safety margin for sustained boost on serious performance builds.

  • Direction of Flow: Install with the larger 4" end facing the airflow source (turbo outlet, intercooler outlet, or MAF housing) and the smaller 3" end facing downstream toward the throttle body. Reversing the direction is possible but creates a slight flow disturbance at the step-down on the boosted side.

  • What to Pair With It:You will need a clamp suited to around 111mm O.D. for the 4" end and around 86mm O.D. for the 3" end, as the outside diameter of Takashi silicone hose is roughly 10mm larger than the inside diameter. T-bolt clamps give consistent clamping pressure across the taper section, which worm drive clamps often struggle to seal evenly, especially under boost cycling.

  • Practical Buyer Tip: Confirm both pipe diameters before ordering. The 4" end must connect to true 101mm O.D. pipework and the 3" end to true 76mm O.D. pipework. Aftermarket intercooler kits and turbo piping can vary slightly from nominal sizes, so measuring the actual pipe O.D. is the only reliable check before purchase.
