Application: This 90 degree reducing elbow suits turbo and intercooler systems where the charge pipe needs to make a sharp 90 degree turn and step down from 76mm to 63mm in a single fitting. Common on modified four-cylinder and six-cylinder performance builds where a 3 inch intercooler outlet or turbo pipe transitions into a 2.5 inch downstream connection at a direction change point in the engine bay.
-
Size Context: The 76mm to 63mm reduction is a 13mm step down across a 90 degree turn. Both 3 inch and 2.5 inch pipe sizes are among the most commonly used diameters in Australian performance builds, making this one of the more practical and frequently needed reducing elbow combinations in the Takashi range. It suits builds where the pipe system steps down from a larger intercooler or turbo outlet into a smaller intake or pipe section.
-
Temperature and Pressure Rating: Rated from -48 degrees C to 260 degrees C with a working pressure of 275 PSI. Built to handle the sustained heat and boost pressure of performance turbo and intercooler systems without cracking, deforming or collapsing under load.
-
Construction Note: 5mm wall thickness with multi-ply silicone reinforcement throughout. Black exterior with no logo for a clean engine bay finish. The blue interior liner is standard Takashi construction and is not a defect.
-
Fitment Note: The inlet end connects to pipes with an outside diameter of approximately 76mm and the outlet end connects to pipes with an outside diameter of approximately 63mm. Measure both connection points on your actual piping before ordering. Do not rely on intercooler kit descriptions alone as actual pipe OD can vary between brands and fabricators.
-
What to Pair With It: Use with a 76mm T-bolt clamp on the inlet end and a 63mm T-bolt clamp on the outlet end. T-bolt clamps are recommended over worm-drive clamps for all boost pressure connections to ensure a consistent, leak-free seal at both ends.
-
Practical Buyer Tip: The 76mm to 63mm combination is one of the most useful reducing elbows for four-cylinder turbo builds running a front mount intercooler with 3 inch piping that connects into a factory or mildly upgraded 2.5 inch intake section. If you find yourself needing a straight reducer and a 90 degree elbow at the same point in your pipe run, this single fitting handles both requirements and reduces the number of potential boost leak locations.
